I followed your very clear example, but my picture doesn’t line up and my profile photo looks noticeably higher than your example… Could you update this? Thanks~

I especially like the flashback to 1982. Lifelong O’s fan here, I was at the doubleheader between Brewers & O’s at the old Memorial Stadium. O’s had to sweep to win the division, came up one short. No wildcard back then.

It is like 20 pixels per inch… All you need is to increase that ammound to 500 or even 1000 and the image won’t be blurry anymore

Cristian — I was very thorough with this, so it looks like Facebook made a change (which wouldn’t be a surprise). I just double checked, and it appears that the distance from the top of the cover photo to the padding above the profile photo is now 211px, not 210. The distance from the bottom of the cover photo to the top of the profile photo is now 104px, not 105px. I’m showing that the other distances are correct.

I’ll update. Thanks for letting me know!

I just want to point out that I have (using these dimensions) made a cover photo/profile picture combo that actually is quite a bit out of the pixel dimensions you state! On my attached image you can slightly see the area underneath the PP square from the cover photo to the right and left. In addition, the top of the profile picture is quite a bit further up, cutting off any image I had under it. (the image attached should show a white border of two blocks used in the image all the way around, which it still does on the cover photo, but is cut off by the PP placement).

I say this with confidence, as what I made was pixel perfect, I urge you to test it with colour blocks for easy identification possibly and maybe update this post?

Thanks man, I enjoy reading your stuff anyways though :)

But with the new resizing, is that still possible? I’ve been playing around in Photoshop for a while now, but I haven’t been able to do it correctly yet. Is it just not mathematically possible, considering the way it shrinks then enlarges the image?

Hi, Agem. The 180×180 pixel profile photo is shrunk down to be 160×160. With the 5 pixel buffer, the profile photo area is 170×170.

Hope that makes sense!

Excelent Job!
Thanks!Just one correction, if the 23px are correct, 658px must be 648px to fit :)

It messed up the design I did for blending with the cover for a client of mine.

Oh, man, you’re right. Bad math on my part. It’s 105 pixels from the bottom to the top of the profile photo.

Thanks for pointing it out and sorry for any trouble the miscalculation may have caused!

I’m having the same trouble as Maroshmobil.  Using your dimensions, 210px from the top of the cover image to the top of profile border, plus 115px from top of profile border to the bottom of the cover image is 325 px, but you say the overall cover height is only 315px – so does that not mean it’s 10px out somewhere?

Sorry if I’m missing something obvious, I’m something of a novice to working on things like this.

The 115 pixels measurement is to the top of the profile photo border, which is 5 px above the top of the profile photo itself. Is that what you mean? That measurement would actually be 110 px.
