In the following situation: I have 10 static creatives with the same text. Should I add all 10 creatives as a Flexible Ad or create 10 separate ads within an ad set? Will the algorithm prioritize creatives differently in each case or the same thing?

Is there alternatives? How do you do testings now?

I don’t use this feature for testing anyway. I use it to give the algorithm options and let it do its thing. So, it doesn’t really change anything for me other than it would be nice to know.

It doesn’t seem like it.

Might be helpful to some. I can't see this at all in my Ad Manager account.

Hi Daniel and Jon, after testing Flex Ads, i have found by accident that somehow the flex ad creatives pull from the same "ID" in each ad set you have them in… if that makes sense.

I created a Flex Ad in my main campaign and then duplicated to my 5 others. I technically have 6 versions of this Flex ad running, but when i go to see post with FB comments, they all have the exact same social proof. Im stumped by this, the flex ads are acting like Post ID, but there is no documentation that i have found to support this. Have you guys experienced anything like this with Flex ads.

If this is intended, this would be amazing never having to convert to Existing Post again and just copy the ads into other campaigns.

Hey, Daniel. A couple of things here. First, I’ve found that the breakdown by creative isn’t working for me either. Second, if you have a need to uncover a winning ad creative, Dynamic Creative and Flexible Ad Format are not the ways you should use. That is not the algorithm’s goal. You are giving it options so that it can show the best combination to each person in the placement they see it. This is not about finding a winner. If that’s what you want, use the A/B test option.

I'm having trouble getting the post Ids from Flexible ads or DCTs. Seems like I'm being given the combination that isn't really the winner.

Thoughts on how to bring Flexible Ads post ids into winning creative adsets?

Nnot sure if it's just something that's temporarily broken.

I have run all kinds of ad formats with varying success…DPA catalog ads, to simple brand awareness ads. I was hoping Flexible could be a good solution, but what I see in the preview just does not work. Example: I have 2 models standing full length in long maxi dresses in a vertical format. Using AI, I create square and horizontal formats (adding plenty of background left+right). Looks great. When I give Meta the square, vertical & horizontal media it makes a jumbled mess using a vertical format in a square placement – cutting the model heads off. There is a perfectly good vertical in media but Meta chooses not to use that. There seems to be no correlation between supplied media aspect ratio and the ad placement. Looks horrible. Is that all the better Flexible is going to do even in this world of AI?

We have a constant flow of new products and images, in the realm of potentially 10-25 campaigns every month. Flexible does NOT seem to be a good solution for high volume and high quality. Am I wrong?

One other note…I have tried using a brand logo on top of the images and Meta prioritizes the text logo for cropping/placement, further ignoring the fact that they cut off the model's heads in favor of a giant logo? I stopped trying to use text on the images.

Thank you Jon…any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Regarding the reporting breakdowns not working, I’d argue that it doesn’t really matter. Given the number of iterations you’re able to submit, the results won’t be particularly conclusive anyway. The point of Flexible Ad Format is more about giving the system lots of options as opposed to running a true A/B test of creative. At least, that’s how I see it.

I saw reference to this in the documentation about Flexible Ad Format, but I didn’t see any evidence of it when setting it up. Any more details about where this is or how it’s done?

You can have up to 3 groups of 10 ads in a single Flexible ad. It's not available right now, but I wonder if Meta is going to create a new breakdown to see the results per group.

I assume it’s because the catalog would have a specific image associated with a product, and this is more about mixing and matching 10 different creatives for the one thing you promote. Beyond that, I couldn’t tell you!

Since I use them for virtually everything I'll need to wait until it's (hopefully) rolled out there because this will be very useful rather than having to create variations with carousels, single images etc
