In FB’s words: “Dynamic creative is a tool that automatically delivers the best combinations of your creative assets. It finds the best ad creative combinations by taking the components of the ad (images, videos, titles, descriptions, CTAs, etc.) and running different combinations of these assets across audiences.”

The part I don’t get is this: on the reporting side, we don’t know WHICH combination of the creative assets performs the best. The breakdown tells us that IMG1 performs better than IMG2, that HEADLINE3 performs better than HEADLINE5, etc. But I don’t see anywhere that *the winning combo* is IMG1-HEADLINE4-DESCRIPTION6-CTA2.

So we might be mistaken to choose the best performing creative in each asset category, as they might outperform the others individually but not form the winning ad variation.

Or am I getting this wrong?

There’s no diference in targeting when it comes to DCO vs. static ads. You can use interests, specific pages interests or e.g. larger lookalike audiences.

Only thing I wish that Facebook would do next is to allow dynamic url tags. I use Heap Analytics to track the entire funnel and while tracking by adset is decent it would be very nice to know exactly what creative is generating the most bottom of the funnel sales.

Yeah, the ad ID is the same, but it does appear to generate a new post ID. This is odd since none of this is shown until engagement occurs on each different “post.”

I see you deleted your last reply and that part of your blogpost. Does that mean you also see different ad ID’s per variation? I know a Facebook account manager isn’t always the best source, but I’m just telling you what I see with my own eyes. The different variations have different likes, shares, comments (or at least in my campaign they have). Unfortunately I can’t seem to see which variation performed best, only which creative asset (separately). I hope they will add that ass well in the near future.

I think your rep is providing incorrect information (which is very common). There is one ad ID for all creative. One ad. One post ID. All comments/likes are happening on the same post — people just see something different when they’re engaging.

Website URL is one of the assets that counts towards the limit of 30, but you can’t create a variation of that asset.
