We did this for our own agency blog, but there’s no way we’ll be able to get all our clients to follow these steps for their sites. We’ve switched to http://www.sharekit.io which lets you edit the title, description, and image of the link preview without having to go through the validation process.

Hey Jon, thank you for this great Post! That was exactly what i was looking for. But unfortunately i am facing issues verifying my Facebook-page: I could download the html-file with the code and upload it into the root folder of my website via FTP. Visiting the URL of the file is also working fine. But when i click the green “verify”-button, the following message pops up: “Verification Code Mismatch – The code we found in the Verification File did not match the expected value”.

Do you have an idea how to make it work? That would really be great!
Our domain uses “www” –> http://www.domain.de . Maybe this is causing the issue? We are using a 301 redirect from “non-www” to “www”. On Facebook, it is not possible to write the www into the html-file.

Hi all, I am a page admin but I do not have the option to click on link ownership under “expired posts”. Also, I don’t even have the tab of ” people and assets” under business settings. Can anyone tell me why? Thanks!

I manage a community page (not business) on Facebook and want to control the editorial content like adding new photos to the link in a post. Is there value to switching to managing the community page under Business Manager when we don’t ever run ads on Facebook?

You can create all 30+ of those pages/ad accounts and have them added to a single Business Manager. I have more than five ad accounts on mine.

My company owns 30+ Facebook business pages, so I unfortunately can’t use Business Manager since it only allows for 5 ad accounts. Really wish there was a way to edit links and thumbnails in regular ol Facebook.

It worked great with two websites but the third is a sub domain and dns changes or addons only apply to the primary domain. I post on one FB page but from the primary as well as the subdomain, which is my blog. The primary is my portfolio website. Any experience with this? Thanks

Thank you so much for this! I hadn’t had to edit my links in months but did last week and wondered why this ability had been taken away. I ended up making changed to the post on my site, running the FB debugger, re-scraping, and posting again. It was a pain. I just set this up and I’m looking forward to having this ability again.

Something is really weird… everyone is talking about how they can’t edit the image and link description etc… actually I still can edit all those in my ads, they never took this from me. I don’t understand why. (I didn’t verify my domain)
